STEP 1Make a cabochon using the pearl clay,about28mm by 19mm.Smooth over the surface with the pad of your finger to remove fingerprints.From 3mmlog of leaf green and cut several 3mm lengths.Fromeach of these into a teardrop and press down on thework surface to flatten it into a leaf shape.Press lightlyonto the cabochon.Mark veins with your knife. | |
STEP 2From 3mm log of pink clay for the petals and flatten it slightly to give an oval cross section.Cut theslice with the tip of your knife, and then press it down onto the leaves. You should position the point of yourknife where you want the center of the flower to go. Cut another slice and apply,overlapping the center of the first petal.Continue round the flower,applying for fiveor six petals evenly. Always work round the flower in onedirection so that the flat side of each petal lies in the samedirection. | ![]() |
STEP 3From 2mm log of pale blue clay and cut slices for the tiny flowers. Apply these in sprays around the leaves and larger flower. Apply a similar sized slice of black to the center of the large flower.Use the needle to make holesin the center of these smaller slices.When the aplique is finished,pat all over it lightly with your finger to consolidate the applied peices before baking. | ![]() |
